A reflection on friendship…

I was thinking about the idea of friendship today wether it be on Facebook or otherwise. It seems people have a tendency to think that when someone reaches out to them they do it because they want something. Which unfortunately in this day and age is more truth then a suspicion. I see this a lot when people reach out to a person who may be in a position of power.
I am writing this to clarify to all those I have attempted to befriend that in this situation that is not the case. If I have reached out to you it is because in some way, shape, or form you have sparked my interest or intrigued me and being the curious person that I am, I want to learn more about you and I want to get to the root of what sparked that within me.
I am not interested in what you can give me, whatever it is I want in life I will have at one point in time or another due to my own perseverance and not the blood, sweat, and tears of others.
I am however interested in you and I am interested in what you can teach me and what I can teach you. I am interested in how and where I may help someone heal or how I may just make the day a little bit easier for another. I am interested in learning what builds you up and what breaks you down because then I know how I may help you when you feel all alone and don’t know how to look up. I am interested in what stirs your soul and tugs at your heart strings. I want to know what makes you laugh and what makes you cry so that I may be the source of joy and not pain. I just want to know more.
I am not saying all of us will become close. What I am saying is that my friendship is here for the taking to those who choose to accept it.
